About Kerala cusine

Be it the sumptuous 32-dish, five-course Sadhya, or the signature plantain leaf-wrapped servings for that unique infused flavour, or even the simple Papads, Pickles and Payasams, some serious flavour-packed eats are on offer at Kerā-la-carte, straight from the heritage kitchens of the Kerala household.

Every part of Kerala specialises in a different cuisine. We bring you the tastiest and nutritious foods from this little food haven.

Everything from the roasted beef originating in the far flung villages, to the earthen pot-cooked seafood from the tropical coastlines. Not forgetting the vegetarian bliss from the western hill stations. All made with the goodness of coconut, be it coconut oil, grated coconut, or coconut milk. As the saying goes… When life gives you coconuts, you make a whole lot more than piña colada. 😉

In ancestral times, traders from the eastern Mediterranean, Arab countries, and all of Europe visited Kerala to buy its spices. These influences gave Kerala’s cuisine a unique blend of native and foreign dishes adapted to local tastes.

Now it’s Kerala’s turn to influence the world, one dish at a time.
